I invited some friends over to try some recipes and grab some goodies. We didn’t have many people, but it was a good time. I made a super simple slow cooker recipe for us all to share. I put a roast in a lined slow cooker with some Hidden Valley Farmhouse Italian dressing and a packet of Hidden Valley Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix and let it cook all day. Then we put it on buns and dipped it in the juice, sort of like a French dip. It was outstanding, and will become part of our regular rotation of meals. Even the kids loved it – they were dipping their beef in the ranch dressing on their salads!

The toddlers both liked the ranch, too!

It was a great time, we exchanged recipes, and of course, everyone loved the Hidden Valley Ranch.

Old Navy Beach Party from Crowdtap

Old Navy Beach Party from Crowdtap

When Crowdtap offered me a free Old Navy Beach Party, I couldn’t gather up my friends fast enough! This party allowed me and three of my friends to each get the following absolutely free:

  • A swimsuit of our choice (one or two piece)
  • A beach towel
  • A pair of flip-flops
  • A beach bag

So, I gathered up three gal pals and headed to the local Old Navy. There was quite a selection of swim suits from which to choose, but as is usually the case for a woman of my size, a bit less to shop from in my size. We tried on a LOT of swim suits! I tried on no less than 15 pieces myself, in lots of different combinations. It was hard to find something supportive enough in the top, because the suits just didn’t seem to be designed with a larger bust in mind. I did find a cute tankini that fit the bill, and my awesome friend managed to find a top in her size that looked amazing and was essentially built like a bra. She looked like a million bucks. My other two gorgeous friends picked out some adorable two-pieces and looked incredible in them.

It was definitely worth it! Va-va-VOOM!

There were several designs of beach towels from which to choose, and of course, a bazillion colors of flip-flops. The bags were all so cute, we really had a hard time deciding. I love the one I chose, because all of my purse items fit in one small zipper compartment, and the two side pockets hold my keys and sunglasses. That leaves a really large, water resistent center area, which I’ve been using as a diaper bag. It is a cute coral color with goldtone accents, and it is easily my favorite item I got that day.

This was a fantastic experience. The manager was friendly and helpful all throughout our party, and she had some great suggestions. She really knew her store and was just a lot of fun to work with. We got about $300 worth of items absolutely free. None of us had to even pull out our wallets.

Are we the only ones who think this is a tiny bit naughty??

I Tried It: Woolite Everyday

I Tried It Product Review

The Product: Woolite Everyday Laundry Detergent

Cost: FREE from Crowdtap

My Experience: Another freebie from Crowdtap! I got 10 samples and $1 off coupons, one for me and nine to give away. I got an extra sample and $3 off coupon from Target when I saw their Woolite demonstration. I washed a load of my son’s clothes in them and a load of miscellaneous colored items. I had no experience using Woolite for anything other than delicates prior to this.

Likes: Cleaned the clothes well in warm water, pleasant scent, kept colors bright. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out it is cloth-diaper friendly.

Dislikes: Left some spotting on the clothes washed in cold.

Overall: This might be my new detergent! I’ll buy a couple of discounted bottles and try it out for a few months to see.

I Tried It: The Cottonelle Clean Care Routine

I Tried It: The Cottonelle Clean Care Routine

I Tried It Product Review

The Product: Cottonelle Clean Care Routine

Cost: FREE from Crowdtap

My Experience: I’ve been a member of Crowdtap.com for about a year now, but I’ve been a lot more active lately, and I’ve been getting a lot more great opportunities. Like last week, when I got a giant box of free Cottonelle Clean Care and Cottonelle Fresh Care Moist Wipes.

Mango admiring our "tower" as he called it.

Mango admiring our “tower” as he called it.

The big pack and one of the tubs was mine to use and report back on. The other two packs and tubs were for me to give to two friends (also pictured are 10 Woolite samples I also received that day. Review forthcoming).

The first thing I tried were the moist wipes, because, well, let’s just say you should be thankful that picture above isn’t scratch & sniff. I decided to try it on the messiest bum in the house first, when I changed Mango’s diaper. We normally use a cloth wipe with plain water, but I thought, what the heck. I’ve used disposable wipes before and didn’t hold out much hope. To my surprise and delight, the whole mess was handled with one wipe! That’s unheard of for regular wipes!

I was already familiar with the Clean Care toilet paper, because that is our preferred brand anyway. I did want to try out the moist wipes myself though – it only makes sense. You wouldn’t ever change a baby’s diaper with just dry toilet paper, so why wipe your own bum (which you can’t even SEE) with just that? Full disclosure: I also like to use a cloth wipe moistened with water on my own bottom, so I was comparing these wipes to that. They performed equally well on me as they did on Mango.

Likes: This is the best toilet tissue there is. Seriously. And the moist wipes did help me feel cleaner and fresher, and they stood up to toddler poop. Flushable.

Dislikes: The moist wipes had a little bit of a chemical smell, and though I couldn’t find a listing for them on the EWG Skin Deep database, the 2010 formulation received a 4 score. That’s a little higher than I’d like.

Overall: I will likely keep a tub of Fresh Care wipes on hand or packed in the diaper bag. Though it’s not ideal for us as far as chemicals are concerned, it’s not so bad that I would balk at occasional use. Of course, we will use Cottonelle Clean Care toilet tissue until they stop making it.
